TOKYO: A volcano in southern Japan erupted Wednesday with an enormous column of grey smoke billowing into the sky.
The Japan Meteorological Agency raised the caution degree for Mount Aso to 3 on a scale of 5, caution hikers and citizens to keep away from the mountain.
NHK nationwide tv aired photos of an enormous smoke column above the volcano.
The caution was once issued for town of Aso and two close by cities in Kumamoto prefecture, which is within the north-central area of the southern island of Kyushu.
